BPC-157, a peptide, is simply an amino acid sequence.

Here is a fifteen amino acid sequence:

The long name of BPC-157 is this.

BPC stands for “body protect compound,” meaning the body already makes it in very small amounts in your own gastric juices, here serving to protect and heal your intestines. But if you can get the super-concentrated version into your system, it has extremely high biological healing activity in almost every place you put it.

What does it do?

BPC-157 is remarkably free of side effects and has been shown since 1991 in research to repair tendons, muscles, intestines, teeth, bones, and more, in both in vitro laboratory “test tube” studies and in vivo rodent studies.

It has been shown to promote tendon and ligament healing with tendon growth, cell survival, and cell migration when applied in drinking water to rodents with Achilles tendon tears in a rodent model and also with damaged medial collateral ligaments.

Healing from tendon to bone.

It eliminates the harmful effects of painkillers on the gastrointestinal tract.

It repairs damage from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in a rodent model of IBD within a few days after oral application.

It has reversed systemic corticosteroid-damaged muscle healing in rodent models when administered orally once daily for 14 days to rodents with crushed gastrocnemius muscles. Similar benefits were shown in a rodent study by Novinscak and colleagues.

It promotes bone healing in rabbits with segmental bone defects before treatment with BPC-157.

BPC-157 is also known as a “stable gastric pentadecapeptide” because it is stable in human gastric juice, can cause anabolic healing effects in both the upper and lower GI tract, has ulcer-preventive effects, and produces a therapeutic effect on inflammation.

As shown in the above research studies, BPC-157 also accelerates wound healing and through interaction with the Nitric Oxide (NO) system, promotes the preservation of endothelial tissue and an “angiogenic” (blood vessel forming) wound healing effect. This occurs even in severely impaired conditions such as advanced and poorly controlled irritable bowel disease, with the return of intestinal anastomosis.

How much should you take?

There is extensive research on BPC-157, and it has been shown to be systematically effective when injected anywhere between 1-10 mcg per kilogram of body weight once a day. In most cases, this amounts to a dose in the range of 200 mcg to 800 mcg anywhere. Some people report that doses of 250-350 mcg twice a day and a total daily dose of 500-700 mcg are most successful. Of course, these are anecdotal experiences and there is no common scientific consensus on this matter.

Because BPC-157 is entirely a natural gastric juice peptide, it cannot be patented, period. This means that major pharmaceutical companies cannot make money from BPC-157, and it means that it is not marketed to any local doctor, hospital, or health system. It is also not approved by the FDA as a drug for human use.
